HOUSTON – With Christmas just around the corner, fire incidents are likely to follow. A fire was reported around 5:30 a.m. Monday on Lamar at Caroline.
Investigators believed that the Christmas decorations started a fire in a high rise in downtown Houston. It was around 5:30 a.m. on Monday that a fire was reported on Lamar Street at Caroline Street.
Firefighters of the Houston Fire Department said they saw smoke coming out from the fourth floor of Houston Center, but the fire sprinklers of the building already quenched the flames.
From the upper floor, the sprinklers also flooded the fourth floor so water was pouring all the way down the elevator shafts. The firefighters were able to shut off the sprinkler system.
No injuries were reported.
During the Christmas season, there is a dramatic rise in the numbers of fires and accidents in the home.
